Helen Galvin

Helen Galvin, age 95 years, of Saukville died Friday morning, Oct. 4, 2024, at Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg with her son by her side.
Helen was born Sept. 30, 1929, in Oshkosh, the daughter of Fred and Sarah (nee Guay) Johnson.
On Nov. 30, 1957, Helen married Gerald Galvin at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oshkosh, He preceded her in death in 2003.
Helen worked as a school crossing guard for the Village of Saukville from 1972 until 2014.
She was a member of St. John XXIII Catholic Parish and helped with funeral lunches at Immaculate Conception Church for many years. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and baking cookies. Helen was a Red Cross volunteer for many years and helped numerous families faced with disasters from fires and floods.
She is survived by her son Patrick of Saukville; her daughter Kathleen (Tim) Waite of Chandler, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Laura and Tyler; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald, daughter Susan and two brothers, Fred and Neil Johnson.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 6 p.m. at St. John XXXIII Parish, Immaculate Conception Church, 120 Church St.., Saukville, with Deacon Mike Burch officiating.
Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saukville, on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 10:30 a.m.
Visitation at the church is on Wednesday, Oct. 16, from 4 to 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Joseph’s Indian School, St. Labre Indian School or a charity of choice in honor of Helen are appreciated.
