Helen Busch

Helen Busch (nee Rauschelbach), 93, a longtime resident of Stevens Point, Lake DuBay and Wausau, died peacefully on Thursday, March 19, 2026, in Wausau.

A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2291 Church Rd., Dancy, Wis., on Wednesday, April 22, with the Rev. Doctor Timothy Roser officiating. Visitation will commence at 12:30 p.m. with the service following at 1:30 p.m. A reception and reflection of Helen’s life will follow the service.

Helen was born in Sheboygan on Sept. 10, 1932, to Hugo and Martha Rauschelbach, the second of four daughters. She grew up in Mount Clemons, Mich., until the family returned to Wisconsin, moving to Cedarburg in 1946.

Helen attended Concordia Teachers’ College in River Forest, Ill., in 1952. While studying at Concordia, Helen met her future husband, Robert W. Busch. They married in June 1953 and remained together until his death in 2015.

In 1967, Helen and her family moved to Stevens Point, where she returned to her studies at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. She graduated with a bachelor of science degree in education in 1970. She also earned a master’s degree in education from the same university.

A lifelong educator, she spent most of her career teaching at Kennedy Elementary School in Junction City.

Helen was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod.

Helen is survived by her sisters Martha Doepel of Yukon, Okla., and Claire Hilgendorf of Appleton; her three sons, John (Kathy) of Stevens Point, Kurt (Katharine) of Seattle, Wash., and Paul (Kris) of Weston; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
