Harriet Otto

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Harriet Otto, who departed from this world on April 14, 2026, at the age of 87. A lifelong resident of Grafton, Wis., Harriet was the beloved daughter of Grafton and a cherished member of the community.

Harriet was a devoted wife to her late husband James, who she lovingly cared for over 16 years before his passing. Their love story began with a beautiful marriage on July 16, 1960, at her parents’ home in Grafton, and it continued to flourish throughout their lives together.

She was a proud mother to her children Debra Ansay (special friend Mark Samosky), Tim (Emily) Otto and Linda Otto and was lovingly known as “G.G.” to her seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Family was the cornerstone of Harriet’s life, and she poured her heart into each cherished moment shared with them.

Harriet is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jim Otto and sisters Shirley Domres and Mary May.

Harriet held a special place in her heart for her sisters, with whom she enjoyed delightful drives and cherished celebrations, including their tradition of enjoying a brandy old fashioned together at Circle B for birthdays.

Harriet’s spirit was filled with music and laughter, and she treasured the time spent attending concerts with her family, as well as dancing, especially to polkas.

Family and friends attended a committal service at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2026, at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Grafton. Following the burial, the family received friends and relatives at Circle B to reminisce and share the joy that Harriet brought into our lives.

Harriet Otto will be profoundly missed, but her gentle spirit and the love she instilled in her family will remain in our hearts forever.

Plopper Funeral Home of Grafton handled the arrangements.
