Harley R. Harrington

Harley Harrington found peace on Jan. 11, 2023, following a sudden decline in health while a resident at Lincoln Village in Port Washington, Wis.

Harley was born in Mt. Morris, Mich., in June 1938 to Earl and Uneita Harrington as the second youngest of seven siblings.

He graduated early from high school so he could follow in his siblings’ footsteps, enlisting in the U.S. Armed Forces, where he served honorably in the Army as a Spec 4. Harley served a tour in Korea, and was later stationed at Camp Haven near Sheboygan Wis.

It was in Sheboygan that he met his future bride, Ms. Doris Hentges. They married in December 1958 and raised their three children in Sheboygan.

They enjoyed many happy years together golfing at the local courses as well as playing across the United States after Harley’s retirement from PLENCO, where he was a loyal employee for 42 years.

Harley and Dorie celebrated 59 years of marriage the week prior to Dorie’s death from cancer in 2017.

Harley was an avid and skilled outdoorsman, especially enjoying bow hunting and ice fishing. He taught his children how to clean fish, shoot straight and throw a perfect spiral.

He was particularly proud of his time in the Army, and was delighted to be chosen to participate in the August 2021 Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. His sister Jeannie, a Navy veteran, was selected for the same flight, and it was such a joy for him to be able to share that experience with his sister.

Harley was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorie, daughter Kelly Harrington, son Harley Jr., his sisters Arleta Severn and Fern Triestram and his brother Earl “Bud” Harrington.

He is survived by his daughter Tracy Harrington, his granddaughter Katie Redovich (husband Joey), great-granddaughter Madison Redovich, his sister Jean Eichenhofer, brother Fred Harrington, sister Martha Moore, sister-in-law Patricia Willman and many fond nieces, nephews and other dear relatives and friends.

The family is forever grateful to the staff and residents of Lincoln Village in Port Washington, Wis., where Harley spent five happy years surrounded by love, community and fellowship. Thank you especially to Kamini for your kindness and grace.

Per Harley’s wishes, no services will be held.
