Grafton volleyball goes 2-2 at Nicolet tourney
Grafton High School’s volleyball team split four matches at a Nicolet tournament last Saturday.
The Black Hawks beat Whitefish Bay, 25-20, 23-25, 15-8; and Wauwatosa East, 27-25, 23-25, 15-9; and lost to Nicolet, 25-22, 20-25, 6-15; and Wisconsin Lutheran, 25-17, 28-26.
On the day, Neala Luedtke had 28 kills and Jackie Tomashek had 19. Josephine Gust had 74 assists. Selena Esparza made 105 digs.
Last Thursday, the Hawks beat Slinger on the road in five games: 25-23, 14-25, 21-25, 28-28, 15-12.
Tomashek had 17 kills and Luedtke had 16. Gust had 32 assists, and Esparza had 72 digs.
On Oct. 2, the Hawks were swept by Hartford, 26-24, 29-27, 25-23.
Tomashek had 15 kills and Julia Sandavol had 10. Gust had 29 assists. Esparza made 39 digs, and Abby Proefrock made 32.
Ozaukee got swept at Manitowoc Lutheran last Thursday, 25-15, 25-13, 25-16.
Abby Miller had nine kills. Cayleigh Ebersold had 13 assists. Sydnie Stadler made nine digs.
Cedar Grove-Belgium lost at Oostburg last Thursday, 25-10, 25-14, 25-14.
The Rockets were to host St. Mary Central on Oct. 9, and then, along with the Warriors, compete in the Big East Conference Tournament at Lakeland College on Saturday.
Port Washington lost to West Bend East on Oct. 2, 25-10, 25-11, 25-10.
Sophia Poole had eight blocks and three kills. Ovilia Eernissee made 10 digs.
Port and Grafton were to conclude their regular seasons with a match at Grafton on Tuesday.
