Grafton resident celebrates 100th birthday

Eunice Van Dyke celebrated her 100th birthday on Wednesday, Nov. 25, at her residence at Berkshire Grafton senior apartment community. The centenarian moved to Grafton in 2009 after living in L’Anse, Mich., to be closer to her family. Van Dyke was raised in Kaukauna, where her parents owned a theater. She worked as a reporter for the Kaukauna Times, now the Times-Villager. Her daughter Barb Kuster said Van Dyke, in her younger days, loved to travel. Some of her favorite traveling memories are kissing the Blarney Stone in Ireland and celebrating Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Kuster said her mother keeps herself busy these days by praying the Rosary and checking up on family friends on her iPad. Van Dyke also likes to play bingo, rummy and scrabble with her neighbors.
