The Village of Saukville has hired a new treasurer, Maureen Hartjes, who most recently worked as an accounting clerk with the Village of Grafton.

Hartjes replaces Vicki Lee, who served in Saukville for more than 20 years.

“Maureen’s strong financial background and positive attitude makes her an excellent addition to the village’s management team,” Village Administrator Dawn Wagner said.

Hartjes, who lives in Grafton, joined the Village of Grafton as an accounting clerk in November 2016. She was responsible for daily cash reconciliations and deposits, processing accounts payable and receivable, completing monthly general ledger reconciliations and receiving utility and tax payments.

Prior to that, Hartjes was a paralegal with the law firm of Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren  in Milwaukee, where she completed tax returns for trusts and individuals and prepared trust accountings.

She also was an accountant at Katz Properties and Uihlein Financial in Milwaukee.

Hartjes received a bachelor’s of business administration in accounting and finance from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
