Golfers hope to improve

Grafton High School’s golf team finished second last in its two meets last week.

The Black Hawks had 170 strokes at the Hartford Golf Club on May 12. Slinger won the seven-team meet with 157.

Jake Leidel had 39, tying for fifth. Jack Birmingham had 43. Parker Strozewski and Braxton Boehlke each had 44. Kendyl Conrad had 45.

The Hawks last Thursday had 162 strokes at the Washington County Course. Slinger won the seven-team meet with 153.

Leidel had 37, tying third. Birmingham and Conrad each had 41. Boehlke had 43. Nate McAllister had 45 in his first varsity match.

Port had 190 strokes and finished second last of seven teams at Quit-Qui-Oc in Elkhart Lake last Friday. Kewaskum won with 160.

Cooper Giese shot 45. Eric Krentz had 47. Jack Schowalter had 48. Brady Schmit had 50. Blake Maves had 57.

Grafton was to golf in the North Shore Conference Meet at Whistling Straits on Tuesday, May 19. Port was to play in the Glacier Trails Conference Meet at the Washington County Course on Wednesday, May 20.
