Gloria J. West

Mrs. Gloria West (nee Eaton) of Port Washington, Wis., formerly of West Bridgewater, Mass., passed away surrounded by her loving family in the evening hours of Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon.  She was 78 years old.

Gloria was born in Stoughton, Mass., on Jan. 26, 1944, the daughter of Aubrey and Mabel (nee Fischer) Eaton.

She grew up in West Bridgewater and graduated from West Bridgewater High School with the Class of 1962.

After high school, she attended Morton School of Nursing in Taunton, Mass., to become a nurse.

In 1963, she married Hugh Stewart Jr. in Bridgewater, Mass.

Gloria worked as an ICU nurse at Goddard Memorial Hospital for more than  25 years.

After moving to Wisconsin in 1998, she became an agency nurse until her retirement in 2012.

In 2000, she married Daniel West in Port Washington, Wis.

Gloria enjoyed traveling. She made many trips to Aruba and loved to be at the beach or any body of water.

She loved her family, spending time with her loving grandchildren and caring for her three cats.

She enjoyed reading and playing poker games on her computer.

Gloria’s peace was the ocean. When back in Boston, she would always visit Cape Cod beaches and was sure to get her fried clams.

Gloria is survived by her three children, James (Tracy) Stewart of Bellevue, Neb., Robert Stewart of Hurley, Wis., and Tammie (fiance Chad Oldenburg) Stewart of Port Washington, Wis.

She is further survived by five grandchildren, Dustin Droukas, Cassidy and Jacob Stewart and Ellie and Alivia Oldenburg; her two sisters, Estelle Perkins of East Bridgewater, Mass., and Edna (Warren) Shave of Bridgewater, Mass.; her former husband Hugh Stewart Jr.; her special friend Andrea Vincent; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Aubrey and Mabel, her husband Daniel West and her niece Karen Shave.

Services celebrating Gloria’s life will be held at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to the Arthritis Foundation or the Wisconsin Humane Society, Ozaukee Campus.
