Giro d’ Grafton serves up a taste of fast-paced family fun

Hundreds of professional and amateur bicyclists took to the streets of downtown Grafton on Saturday, June 22, for the 13th annual Giro d’ Grafton, which is part of the Tour of America’s Dairyland racing series (top photo). Above, Village President Jim Brunnquell (left), Dustin Beck of U.S. Bank in Grafton and School District Supt. Jeff Nelson judged a pizza-eating contest. Near right, Grafton Parks and Recreation Department intern Chandler Steffen presented the Best Pizza award to Stacy Macholl, manager of Downtown Pizza. Far right, Audrey, 7, took a seat on the lap of her mother Suzanne Beck as they sampled a variety of pizza. (Bottom Photo) Gary Helm (aka Beetlejuice, far left), hosted a 1980s-themed party outside his house on 13th Avenue as Giro d’ Grafton racers sped past. In addition to Helm, attendees included (from left) Karlee Maynard, Jay Grosklaus, Brian Krizek, Kathy Helm, Sheri Paape, Nicki Strom, Sofia Strom, Lisa Mueller, Bobby Rief, Tom Helm and Greg King.
