PAID OBITUARY
Gerald William Wagner, age 73, formerly of Port Washington, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
A memorial gathering was held at St. Stephen’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam on Monday, Nov. 26, 2018.
Funeral services followed at the church on Monday, with the Rev. Paul Stratman officiating.
Inurnment was at Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam, where the John E. Miller American Legion Post #146 provided military honors.
Gerald was born on Jan. 30, 1945, in Waukesha to Fritz and Dorothy (nee Moll) Wagner.
After graduating from high school, Gerald served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1963 to 1967. He sang with the Navy Blue Jacket Choir and served his tour in Norfolk, Va., in communications.
After his military service, Gerald worked as an electrician and a member of IBEW union.
He loved to golf and fish. He was active in the Beaver Dam Senior Center and led the fishing club for several years.
Gerald was a member of St. Stephen’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and the John E. Miller American Legion Post #146.
Survivors include his wife Bonnie Wagner of Beaver Dam; his mother Dorothy Wagner of Beaver Dam; six children, Dennis (Teresa) Wagner of San Antonio, Texas, Traci (Doug) Witcher and Patrick Wagner, both of Birmingham, Ala., Jane Fraser of Beaver Dam, Bryan Fraser of Chicago and Christopher Fraser of Port Washington; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; other relatives; and friends.
Gerald was preceded in death by his father and grandson Logan Tippett.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Stephen’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Restoration Fund in memory of Gerald Wagner.
