The general election in the village and town of Belgium and the Cedar Grove-Belgium School District will feature one contested race and another newcomer filling a spot.

Aileen Dahlke, who last January was honored for nearly 23 years of service to the Cedar Grove-Belgium School Board, is being opposed by Eric Meinnert for the Sheboygan County seat.

Incumbent Nancy Niebauer is running unopposed for the Ozaukee County seat on the School Board.

Terms are for three years.

The town will get a new clerk as Ginger Murphy is not seeking re-election. She held the position for 20 years.

Anne Nord is the only candidate for clerk.

The Town Board on Monday discussed changing the clerk position to be appointed instead of elected.

Town Chairman Tom Winker, supervisors Bill Janeshek and Tom Bichler and Treasurer Dayle Parks are running unopposed.

Terms are for two years.

In the village, President Pete Anzia and trustees Dan Wolff, Roseann Geib and Rose Sauers are running unopposed.

Terms are for two years.

The deadline to turn in papers was 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3. The general election is April 4.
