Gary C. Wallenkamp

Gary C. Wallenkamp, age 60, of Wauwatosa, formerly of Crooked Lake, Wis., was called home unexpectedly on Dec. 22, 2021.
He was born on Oct. 23, 1961, in Milwaukee.
Gary was a hard worker employed by Sid Sealants for more than 15 years and was better known as “Hero.” He was more of a friend than a co-worker.
When he wasn’t working, he cared for his mother, and she appreciated his presence and love for cooking.
Gary was always there for his family and friends. He made sure those around him knew they were loved. Gary had the biggest heart and was always there with a joke. Gary was so proud of his children and had unconditional love for them. He felt at peace knowing his kids found partners who loved them. Gary was our angel on earth.
Gary loved to camp and spend time in the yard, planting and decorating for holidays, talking with the neighbors and even strangers walking by. He loved all Wisconsin sports, especially his beloved Packers. We knew never to call or talk during a Packer game.
During Gary’s last months of life, we were lucky to have a very joyous 60th birthday celebration with “Elvis” and loving friends and family.
Gary’s quiet thoughtfulness will continue to make his family feel loved forever. His infectious laugh will never be forgotten and we will continue to ask his question: “Where is my hug?”
Gary is survived by his children Landon (Olivia Clement) and Cassidy (Justin Anderson); the mother of his children, Chris Wallenkamp; his mother Jacqueline; siblings Teresa (Craig) DePas, Jon (Jeannie) and Chad (Amanda); stepmother Connie; and stepsiblings Bryan (Lori) Mecomber and Nancy Mecomber. He is further survived by nieces and nephews Andrew (Anna), Aaron (Keri), Amanda, Angie (Eric), Hannah (Nate), Tanner, Braden, Addison, Destiny, Mackenzie, Serenity, Olivia and Memphis; great-nieces and nephews Adrieanna, Aubreigh, Ariana, Colton, Teddy, Abram, Madelyn, Mason and Rayna; other relatives; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Gary H.; sister Kim Sylvia; and loving grandparents, including special grandparents Cliff and Esther Spaulding.
Visitation will be on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022, from 2 p.m. until the funeral service at 4 p.m. at Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral Home, 10121 W. North Ave., Wauwatosa.
Interment for the family will be at Mountain Cemetery on Monday, Jan. 3, 2022.
