Fredonia Fire Department gets $3,000 gift from Big Joe’s
The Village of Fredonia received a $3,000 donation last week to benefit the Fredonia Fire Department.
The check came from Big Joe’s Gas and Convenience store owners Joel and Jena Schneider, who donated two cents for every gallon of gas they sold in August.
The donation from sales totaled $1,544, with the Schneiders rounding it up by contributing $1,456 of their own money.
The Schneiders made the donation because many of the department’s regular fundraisers had to be canceled due to the coronavirus.
The station is donating two cents per gallon this month to the Waubeka Fire Department.
A brat fry to benefit the Waubeka department will also be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at the station, W3970 Highway H, west of Fredonia.
