Frederick W. Mueller

Frederick W. Mueller of Port Washington passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022, at the age of 84.

He was born in Saukville to John and Ruth Mueller on Jan. 29, 1938.

Fred married Dorothy Witt on May 28, 1960, at St. Patrick Cathedral in Fort Worth, Texas, and together they had three children.

Fred graduated from Plymouth High School after a brief time in seminary school.  It was at the seminary where he discovered his love of cooking and baking.

He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force in Texas, where he started his career in law enforcement.

After marrying Dorothy, they moved back to Wisconsin to raise their family.

Soon after, he started his 28-year career with the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Department. During his time there he was promoted to detective. He was the chief investigator for three homicide cases. He oversaw welfare fraud, was on the SWAT team as a hostage negotiator, worked on internal investigations and was the chief property officer.

After he and Dorothy retired, they moved to Las Vegas, where he loved being a security guard for Caesar’s Palace. They moved back to Wisconsin after being in Las Vegas for 13 years to be closer to their family.

Fred enjoyed bingo, gambling, cooking, bowling, movies, Celine Dion and celebrating anything big or small by going out to eat. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.

Fred’s memory will be cherished by his children Debbie (Chris) Hill of Port Washington and Paul Mueller of Port Washington; grandson Tyler (Carol) Hill of Saukville; great-grandson Asher Hill; siblings Tom (Dina) Mueller of Livermore, Calif., and Caroline Klaport of Tacoma, Wash.; and sister-in-law Carol Mueller of Port Washington. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He will be dearly missed by his beloved teddy bear dog Dottie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Dorothy; daughter Dianne Mueller; siblings Doris (Jerry) Smith, Reggie (Frieda) Mueller, John (Billie) Mueller, Nick (Mae) Mueller, Robert Mueller and Eugene (Sharon) Mueller; and brother-in-law Ed Klaport.
