Four people injured when truck blows stop sign

Four area residents sustained non-life-threatening injuries in a car accident  Saturday morning in the Town of Belgium.

A 2004 blue GMC Sierra traveling north on Six Mile Road around 9:26 a.m. failed to stop at a stop sign, striking a 2022 grey Dodge Ram traveling west on Jay Road, according to an Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office release.

The Dodge Ram was struck on the driver’s side and rolled over several times. It came to rest against a garage at a residence on the northwest corner of the intersection, according to the release.

The GMC Sierra struck an unoccupied vehicle at the residence before stopping.

The GMC Sierra was driven by a 45-year-old Fredonia man. A 63-year-old Random Lake man was the passenger. The Dodge Ram was driven by a 66-year-old man from Belgium with a 64-year-old passenger from Belgium, according to the release.

All four were taken by ambulance to Aurora Medical Center in Grafton. A Flight for Life helicopter responded, but the patients didn’t require transport.

The driver of the GMC Sierra was issued a citation for failure to stop at a stop sign.

Those responding included the Belgium, Fredonia, Random Lake, Port Washington and Waubeka fire departments, Ozaukee County Emergency Management and a Flight for Life helicopter.
