Floyd Edward Swanke
Floyd Edward Swanke, 88, of West Bend, formerly of Port Washington, passed away peacefully at the Kathy Hospice in West Bend on July 13, 2024.
A beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he was born in Berlin, Wis., on March 29, 1936, to the late Edward and Martha (nee Brown) Swanke.
Floyd graduated from Berlin High School prior to serving his country as a jet engine mechanic during the Korean War, from February 1955 to February 1959.
Floyd was united in marriage to his true love, Jo Ann (nee Tyson), on Sept. 20, 1958. They shared 65 years together.
Floyd retired in 2002 from Milwaukee Gear Company after 42 years as a gear machinist.
He was a member of Grand Avenue United Methodist Church in Port Washington.
Floyd’s passions in life beside his family were fishing, hunting and woodworking. Floyd was a dedicated and loving husband and father who would do anything for his family and friends.
Floyd is survived by his loving wife Jo Ann; daughter, Michele Allmann; son Michael (Lisa) Swanke; grandchildren Megan Anderson, Nathan (Taylor) Swanke and Elizabeth Swanke; great-grandchildren Alexia, Adym, and Saige; and sister-in-law Jacqueline Hood.
He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Martha Swanke; four brothers, Reuben, Foster, Vernon and Palmer; and four sisters, Beatrice, Lila, Joyce and Delores.
A military graveside service was held on July 19, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Wisconsin Memorial Park, 13235 W. Capitol Dr. in Brookfield. Those attending met at the green parking area.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will go to the Kathy Hospice towards a leaf on the memorial tree.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt gratitude to the Kathy Hospice for providing loving care and treating Floyd like a “King.”
