Feith YMCA collects 1,500 pounds of food for pantry

    The Feith Family Ozaukee YMCA collected 1,500 pounds of food for the Saukville Community Food Pantry during a three-hour span on Wednesday, April 22.
    Because the Saukville YMCA is closed except for child care offered for the children of essential workers, the food drive was set up outdoors.
    That way people could “pull up, drop off and drive away,” Padrick Dunn, marketing and communications coordinator for the Kettle Moraine YMCA, said.
    The Feith Family YMCA is a branch of the Kettle Moraine Y.
    “It was easy for the community,” Dunn said, adding that the YMCA got the word out via Facebook and emails. “It was very exciting to see the community come together to help each other.”
    The YMCA has been running a number of events to keep people in the community engaged and offering support to one another, Dunn said.
    In addition to the food drives, the Kettle Moraine YMCA is hosting blood drives and providing virtual fitness sessions for the community.
    Those workouts can be accessed on the Y’s Facebook page or its YouTube page under the title Stronger Together, Dunn said.
