Esports team reaches final eight
CGBRockets, Cedar Grove-Belgium High School’s top esports team in the game Rocket League — a soccer video game played with cars — advanced to the final eight in the playoffs.
The team was swept in four close games by Unit 5 Esports RL of Normal Community West High School in Normal, Ill.
Greyhound Gold from Carmel, Ind., won the tournament, Cedar Grove-Belgium esports club advisor Carol Schumacher said.
CGBRockets’ team members are Gavin Schmidt, Calvin Lutzke and Jacob Larsen.
Esports starts again in February.
