Ernest Hadler

Ernest Arthur Hadler, 94, of Waubeka, was welcomed into the arms of God on Friday, Sept. 16, 2022.

He was born in Grafton on Feb. 5, 1928, to Arnold and Florence (Hoffmann) Hadler.

On April 7, 1951, he married Beverly Retzer (1931-1994) and they had a daughter.

Ernie graduated from Grafton High School in 1946.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

After his discharge, he and Beverly settled in Waubeka.

Ernie retired from American Motors Corp. as an inspector with 31 years of dedicated service.

He was a long-time member of the Ozaukee County VFW Memorial Post 5373, which recently recognized Ernie for 45 years of maintaining two cemeteries.

Ernie enjoyed playing sports, gardening, baking and being a handyman.

He belonged to St. Martin’s United Church of Christ in Fillmore.

Those left to cherish Ernest’s memory are his daughter Keri (Bob) Eichner of Waubeka and his granddaughter Kaylin. He is further survived by his sister Dorothy Thompson of Grafton, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Beverly and brothers Harold, Warren “Dick” and Frank Hadler.

A funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2022, at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington, WI 53074. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 3 to 5 p.m. with military honors to follow the service.

Ernest will be laid to rest next to his wife Beverly at Waubeka Community Cemetery, formerly St. Paul Cemetery, on Saturday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m.

Memorials, if desired, are suggested to St Martin’s United Church of Christ, Fillmore, or The Robert Irvine Foundation for Veterans.

Ernie’s family would like to thank the staff at Belgium Gardens and Allay Hospice for their care and support.
