Election ballot still has holes
As of Monday, only one candidate had turned in papers to run for one of three Village of Belgium trustee positions up for election in April.
Incumbent Clem Gottsacker, 66, who has been a trustee for 17 years, has submitted candidacy papers, Village Clerk Julie Lesar said.
The seats of Don Gotcher and Victor Lecato are also up for election.
Trustee seats carry two-year terms.
In the Cedar Grove-Belgium School District, the Sheboygan County seat of Aileen Dahlke and the Ozaukee County seat of Nancy Niebauer are up for election. Who turned in papers to run was unavailable by deadline.
School Board members serve three-year terms.
No town seats are up for election this year.
The deadline to file candidacy papers is 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7.
The spring election is Tuesday, April 7. The primary election, if more than two people are running for a given seat, would be Tuesday, Feb. 18.
