Eighth-grade Rebels to play for title after nipping Cedarburg
The Saukville Rebels’ eighth-grade team pulled out a 30-24 victory over Cedarburg on Saturday, setting up a conference title showdown with Slinger Blue.
Nathan Uselding threw touchdown strikes to Kenyon Davis, Connor Snodgrass and Kaiden Schumacher, and Schumacher added one on the ground to take a 28-24 halftime lead.
The second half was all defense that ended with Ryan Burmesch and Cael Eernisse teaming up to record a safety to make the final 30-24.
The eighth-grade team plays for the league title at home at 7 p.m. Saturday at Didier Field.
The seventh-grade Rebels lost, 24-0. The offense couldn’t sustain drives and threw a pick six.
Garett Kawczynski got the sixth-grade Rebels on the board with a 12 yard touchdown run, and quarterback Mason Sommer added two rushing scores to lead the Rebels to a 18-12 victory. Davion Igess recovered a Cedarburg fumble to seal the win.
On Saturday, the sixth-grade game begins at 4 p.m. at Didier Field against Slinger Blue with older grades to follow.
