Dutch heritage to be celebrated at Holland Fest
The 76th annual fest that proclaims everyone is Dutch for at least a day has a new twist this year.
Holland Fest will again be held in Cedar Grove from Friday, July 28, to Sunday, July 30, to celebrate the village’s heritage.
New this year is an interactive puzzle game for people ages 13 through adult called “Who stole the Klompen?”
It will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the stroopwaffle stand.
Klompenhouwer Luke Traver will carve wooden shoes on Friday and Saturday. He worked under master shoe carver Bob Siegel Jr. and took over in 2014 when Siegel retired. For more information on Traver, visit https://lukeslostarts.com.
Among a variety of foods available for purchase will be Dutch classics oliebollen (doughnuts), woosterbroodje (pigs in a blanket), Dutch apple bread and snert (pea soup).
