Driver hurt in rollover crash on Highway 57

A Washington County man was seriously injured after he reportedly drove erratically on Highway 57, went off the road and crashed his car in a rollover accident.

According to the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office, there were two 911 calls at about 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 15, regarding a gold Honda Civic traveling erratically in the northbound lanes of I-43 near Highway 32.

A witness followed the vehicle on to Highway 57 where the driver of the Civic lost control. The vehicle rolled onto its roof in the median just south of East Hawthorne Drive in the Town of Saukville.

Deputies responded and found the driver, a 30-year-old man from Washington County, inside the car. Northern Ozaukee Ambulance transported the driver to a local hospital.

A Flight for Life helicopter then transported him to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa for serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

The Fredonia Fire Department, Port Washington Fire Department and Fredonia Village Marshal’s Office also responded.

The incident is still under investigation.
