District workers may use rapid testing clinic

Cedar Grove-Belgium School District employees and their household family members may get Covid-19 test results within 24 hours at a clinic at one of nine area sites.

A partnership between the nonprofit Cooperative Educational Service Agencies (CESA) 6 and 7, Froedtert and Medical College of Wisconsin and Wisconsin Diagnostic Laboratories makes rapid testing results available to districts within those CESAs.

Waiting for Covid-19 test results provides a challenge in keeping schools open, especially since finding substitute teachers can be difficult, Business Manager Tera Rogers wrote in a letter to staff. The rapid test results determine if a teacher or staff member needs to quarantine or can return to work.

The fast test results also help with contact tracing to slow the spread of the coronavirus, Rogers said.

Staff members or members of their households who exhibit symptoms are to contact Rogers to request a test. If criteria are met, the district will pay for the test.

The closest site to the district is in the Oostburg School District. Other sites are in Hartford, Lomira, Oshkosh, Valders, De Pere, Greenville, Menasha and Kimberly.
