District to hire cleaning service
The local labor shortage has caused the Cedar Grove-Belgium School District to hire a vendor to clean a portion of one of its schools.
The School Board last week authorized Director of Building and Grounds Ben Lukens to hire Quality Cleaning to clean part of the elementary school.
“We have 1.5 cleaning positions we haven’t been able to fill,” Supt. Chad Brakke said.
Quality Cleaning does work for the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah and Valders school districts. Brakke said both gave positive reviews.
The service will cost nearly $91,000.
Hiring 1.5 employees would cost less than $82,000.
The district has five full-time and six part-time cleaning positions.
