District to get full-time business director
After sharing its director of business services position the last decade, the Cedar Grove-Belgium School District is looking for one to call its own.
Kris DeBruine had started splitting time equally between Oostburg and Cedar Grove-Belgium, but her time has since changed to 0.7 at Oostburg and 0.3 at Cedar Grove-Belgium.
“While Kris is excellent with school finance, we need more time to fill the demands that the District has for that position, but Oostburg cannot afford to give more of Kris’ time up. Since Oostburg holds Kris’ contract we had to look at alternative long term solutions,” School Board President Chad Hoopman said.
The board unanimously approved hiring a full-time business manager last week. The person will shadow DeBruine this year.
“That person will be hired and trained with Kris and the business office over this next school year,” Hoopman said. “It is difficult to find people who are experienced in school finance and the state requirements so this will be a great opportunity to develop someone to fill this position on a full-time basis for the district.”
