Disabled bowling helps disabled vets

The Melvin Wester American Legion Post 412 of Belgium held its fifth annual wheelchair bowling tournament last weekend at Globe Lanes in Random Lake to help disabled veterans. Participants sat in wheelchairs while bowling on Saturday and Sunday. The event also included raffles. Twenty-two teams of two helped raise more than $1,500. Proceeds go to Camp American Legion in Tomahawk that provides disabled veterans with therapy and a place to relax. Legion members helping with the tournament included (front row from left) Mark Thiele, Al Poull, Bill May, Dave Bruhn, (back row) Don Tuhy, Joan Pearson, Carl Huenink and Richard Howells.
