Digging in to Dutch heritage

Cedar Grove’s annual Holland Fest had gorgeous weather in which to celebrate everything Dutch last weekend. From the top photo, (from left) Sherri Morgan, Katie Lubbert and Amy Schoeder readied to serve some olie bollen (deep fried doughnut holes sprinkled with sugar), one of the fest’s most famous Dutch treats; Mable Jacoby, 5, and Blayke Mills won the wooden shoe races; descendents of Gerrit John Lammers happily rode in the annual parade in proper attire; and the traditional Klompen Dancers are always a hit as they follow the street cleaners on Van Altena Avenue.
