Dexter Higgins Deltgen

Dexter Higgins Deltgen, 41, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025, in Richmond Hill, Ga.
He is survived by his parents Lenn and Barbara Deltgen, brother Joshua Deltgen, sister Alexandrea (Tyler) Neuwirth and daughters Alina Sobieszczyk, Vanessa Sobieszczyk and JhaNeka Moss.
Born in Milwaukee, Wis., Dexter graduated from New Horizons Youth Academy in 2003. Shortly after, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he excelled in boot camp and was chosen as the guidon for his platoon. He proudly served as a medic for 13 months in Iraq.
Following his military service, Dexter pursued a wide range of careers, including work as a security guard, tattoo artist, car salesman, vacuum cleaner salesman and hotel desk clerk. He also performed stand-up comedy in several comedy clubs, where his quick wit and humor shined.
Dexter lived life in motion, always creating, performing and finding new ways to express himself. His interests included playing the drums, gymnastics, martial arts, Filipino stick fighting, wrestling, drawing and writing poetry.
He will be remembered for his creativity, sense of humor and generous heart. Above all, Dexter loved his family — especially his daughters. Just last year, he wrote: “If I pass away unexpectedly, remind my kids every time you see them how much I love them, and how I would do anything in this world for them. This is all I want.”
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Forest Springs Camp scholarship fund.
