Dennis “Cass” Pawling

Dennis “Cass” Pawling passed away in the early morning on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024.
Cass was born in Port Washington on Aug.. 29, 1946, to Tony and Myrtle (Thiel) Pawling.
He grew up in Ozaukee County and attended local schools before serving in the U.S. Army, spending three years in the Vietnam War from February 1968 to September 1970.
On July 13, 1985, Cass was united in marriage with Anne Jushka at St. Mary’s Church in Port Washington. They spent more than 39 years together.
Cass was employed by the City of Port Washington Street Department and Water Department for 26 years.
Retiring in May of 2003, he enjoyed 21 years of retirement, spending time at his northern retreat in Athelstane and embarking on 18 years of trips out West to the Black Hills every fall. He enjoyed the outdoors and looking for wildlife, especially elk in the hills.
Cass leaves behind his wife Anne; brothers David (Faith), Rick (Debbie) and Bill; sister Elizabeth; mother-in-law Charlotte Jushka; brother-in-law Jim (Dee); and sisters-in-law Mary Jane and Janet; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Dianne Maxwell and brother Tony Pawling.
As per Cass’ wishes, cremation will take place and no services will be held.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and especially the hospice staff at Aurora Medical Center for their exceptional help and care.
Memorials, if desired, are suggested to the Salvation Army or a veterans organization.
