Dawn Schuknecht
Dawn Arlene (nee Neve) Schuknecht peacefully entered into eternal life on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend to everyone she met during her life’s journey.
Dawn was born on Aug. 23, 1955, to Frank and Judy (nee Marcon) Neve in Marshfield, Wis.
She grew up on a farm near Pittsville, graduated from Pittsville High School in 1973 and years later graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with a degree in elementary education and a minor in art.
Dawn went on to teach fifth and sixth-grade students in Spencer, Wis., for 10 years along with coaching girls’ basketball.
In 1989, Dawn married the love of her life, Rick Schuknecht.
After moving to Port Washington, she subbed in the school district there and also worked at Squires Golf Course.
In 1997, Dawn and Rick joyfully welcomed their daughter Carmen into their world and their family was completed.
Dawn loved and worshiped God. She enjoyed God’s wonderful creation in many things including her gardens, her cairn terriers and just viewing Lake Michigan.
Dawn enjoyed participating in curling, softball, bowling, volleyball and golf. Her leisure activities included crafting, scrapbooking, thrift store shopping and rock hunting on Lake Michigan’s shores. She was a die-hard Brewers, Bucks and Packers fan. Above all, her most treasured time was spent with her husband, daughter and her sisters and brother and their families.
Dawn cherished family reunions, birthdays, Christmas get-togethers and other family events. She delighted in watching Carmen, nephews and nieces and their children’s sports and school activities.
Dawn was an active member of St. John XXIII Catholic Parish. She was the head of the parish’s Human Concerns Committee, volunteered to help with the Fall Festival and served as an usher during Masses.
Dawn is survived by her husband Rick; daughter Carmen; siblings Nina (Richard) Harris, Marci Ludwig, Kelly (Bruce) Nelson and Frank (Ernestine) Neve; and brother-in-law Bob (Mary) Schuknecht. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law Howard and Ann Schuknecht, sister-in-law Jane Schuknecht and brothers-in-law Jim Schuknecht and Terry Ludwig.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2024, at St. John XXIII Catholic Parish, St. Peter of Alcantara Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington, Wis., 53074. Father Patrick Wendt will preside. The family will receive visitors at the church from noon to 2 p.m.
