Danny L. Champeau

Danny L. Champeau passed away peacefully at his residence in Fredonia on March 23, 2025, with his son and significant other by his side. He was 77 years old.

Danny was born July 15, 1947, in Appleton to Bernard and Joyce (Durkee) Champeau.

He grew up in Glendale, Wis., graduating from Nicolet High School in 1965. He later attended Milwaukee School of Engineering and earned his degree in engineering.

He retired from Mate Precision Tooling as a regional sales engineer in 1999 after many faithful years of dedicated service. He later attained his U.S. Coast Guard captain’s license and operated We’re Done Sport Fishing out of Port Washington.

Dan enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and gardening. He also enjoyed Elvis music. Other hobbies included scrollsaw woodworking, traveling to national parks and tropical beaches and playing sheepshead with his friends.

Survivors include his son James (Tamara) Champeau Sr. of Saukville; five grandchildren, James (Abbey) Champeau Jr., Timothy, Samantha Jo, Sandra and Mason; and five great-grandchildren, Madalyn, Jamison, Walker, Lilly and Myles.

He is further survived by brother John (Frank Pedroncelli) and sister Rozanne (Frank) Smith, both of Texas, former wife Carol (nee McKibbon) Champeau, significant other Sherry Brunner, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Danny was preceded in death by his son Steven L. Champeau, daughter Jennifer M. Champeau and his parents Bernard and Joyce.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2025, at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday, April 7, from 3 p.m. until services begin at 6 p.m.

If desired, memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers.
