Daniel Patrick Cashin

Daniel Patrick Cashin of Whitefish Bay, Wis., was born to eternal life on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.

He was born the beloved son of Patrick and Ann Cashin on Sept. 18, 1973, in Bloomington, Ind.

Dan attended St. James Catholic School and graduated from Homestead High School in Mequon, Wis., in 1991. He was a proud graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a degree in sociology.

Dan attended Milwaukee Fire Academy and enjoyed a 21-year career with the Milwaukee Fire Department. He took great pride in helping the Milwaukee community during their time of need.

Dan was an active volunteer with The Phoenix-Milwaukee, teaching kickboxing.  He also taught self-defense at the Wisconsin Athletic Club in Glendale. Dan had a passion for physical fitness and enjoyed sharing that with others. He was a member of the Red Schafer Gym and recently earned his black belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.

Dan enjoyed traveling to Sedona with his partner Jill, and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle to Holy Hill every Fall.

Dan’s memory will be cherished by those who knew him best. He is survived by his parents Patrick and Ann Cashin; brother Robert Cashin; niece and nephew Kelsey and Cameron Cashin; life partner Jill Mattner; and her children Brooklyn, Reese and Teagan Mattner. Dan is further survived by many relatives, friends and colleagues.

He was preceded in death by his uncle Denis Cashin and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2026, at St. John XXIII Catholic Parish, St. Peter of Alcantara Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington, Wis.

The family will receive visitors at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington, on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 5 to 8 p.m. and again at the church on Saturday from noon to 12:45 p.m. There will be a firefighters walk-through at the church at 12:45 p.m.

Dan will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Port Washington, Wis.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Dan’s name to the Milwaukee Firefighters Charitable Foundation, 5625 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53213.
