Daniel Goelzer
Mr. Daniel Goelzer of the Town of Saukville passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 19, 2023, at Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital in Mequon. He was 68 years old.
Dan was born in Sheboygan County on June 19, 1954, the son of Harold and Doreen (Michaels) Goelzer.
He grew up in the Cascade area and was known as a hard worker at a very young age.
He worked at Modern Equipment in Port Washington for many years, where he met the love of his life, Darlene Monahan. They were together for 42 years until Darlene’s death in December 2022.
Dan started working as a steel worker in the late 1980s. He was a proud member of the Sheet Metal Union (SMART Local #18), where he worked until his retirement in 2017.
He spent his retirement years completing the house that he and Darlene built together to enjoy their retirement.
Dan loved collecting and working on Dodge trucks and helping his friends work on their cars. He also enjoyed woodworking and taking care of his property.
Dan is survived by his daughter Christy (Dan) Rabitoy of Spring Valley, his four grandchildren, Emilie (William) Hudson, Andrew “Butch” (Megan) Rabitoy, Belle (Nick) Larson and Henry Rabitoy, and three great-grandchildren, Shannon, Micah and Atlas.
He is further survived by his “bonus family” of five children: Deborah (Bruce) Paape of Fredonia, Timothy (Michelle) Monahan of Hartford, Kelly (the late Scott) Fechter of Random Lake, Tom (Jenny) Monahan of Port Washington and Todd (Merri Jo) Monahan of Beechwood, 12 grandchildren, seven siblings, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his soulmate Darlene Monahan and her daughter Shana Monahan.
In accordance with Dan’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held.
