Corn roast canceled

Add the Melvin Wester American Legion Post 412’s annual corn roast in Belgium to the casualties of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The event was planned for Saturday, Aug. 29.

“We were looking forward to this year’s event because we were trying something new,” Post First Vice Commander Jerry Keller said.

The Wisconsin National Guard was slated to bring a 30-foot climbing wall and a 60-foot blow-up obstacle course. Friendly competition between local schools’ sports teams was planned.

As a result, the Summer Nights LIVE event, scheduled to be held in conjunction with the fest, is also canceled.
