Concessions Impressions

If there was a light at the end of the rainbow that was the commute to Kewaunee last Friday — aside from a thrilling playoff game — it was the concession stand at the Don Rabas Football Field.
This structure is not a stand; it’s a walk-in shelter. The roof covers the entire square building, so you can get out of any storm when you order. (Ha ha ha! Storm is Kewaunee High School’s nickname.)
Quality shelves that flank the entrance both offer condiments, and we’re talking onions (yes!), pickles, shredded cheese, ketchup, mustard, sour cream and even oyster crackers.
Did you read that? They have cheese. Maybe they bought it in Plymouth and that’s why the Panthers’ concession stand didn’t have any a few weeks ago.
The cheeseburger was delicious, and the prime place of purchase only added to the meal. The price was even reasonable at $4.
Granted, this is Kewaunee, and from what I deduced during my drive, the concession stand might be one of the only places to eat in the area, but let us not take away from an exceptional dining experience.
I didn’t visit Kohler’s concession stand on Saturday, but you know it’s high end. It’s Kohler. I’m surprised there wasn’t valet parking.
This Friday we’re staying closer to home. Load up on the cheese, Pirates’ Galley.
