Concessions Impressions

It was a return to one of my happy places on Friday as I sought halftime sustenance.

The Pirates’ Galley at Al Urness Field in Port Washington did the trick, albeit a quick one. The line was short and the service was about as fast as the Pirates’ football team’s offense is operating these days, which matched my itinerary since I had little time to consume cuisine after capturing photos of the dance and cheer teams’ halftime performances.

Hence, why I scarf down so many hot dogs. This one was one of the Galley’s big beef versions. Ketchup and mustard were nice additions, and I managed to keep my shirt condiment-free. Don’t downplay that stat.

A bowl of jalepenos adorned the adjacent table, joining the red and yellow standards, along with napkins and relish. Their friends the onions were absent, but it was humid and nobody likes muggy onions.

For those of you new to Pirates’ football, did you know the Galley offers burgers and brats from Port’s own Bernie’s Fine Meats and custard from Wisconsin-based Culver’s? This is quality dining.

They’ve also got giant pickles if you’ve got a giant appetite and can spare a Super Bowl halftime-show’s worth of time (plus commercials) in order to gobble down the green beast.
