Company’s carryout orders boost restaurants

With restaurants struggling to survive the effects of the coronavirus outbreak and Gov. Tony Evers’ Safer at Home order that’s limited their business to carry out, Mike Kryshak and the folks at Rebel Converting in Saukville are doing their part to help.

Each day, Kryshak has ordered 80 meals for employees — 40 for lunch and 40 for dinner — from a different restaurant.

On Tuesday this week, the order went out to Mexican Firehouse. It was the first business for the new restaurant on Dekora Street where the old fire station was once located.

On Monday, Messina’s got the call, and last week Between the Greens and Michaleno’s Pizza served Rebel workers.

“We have been trying to support the local Saukville restaurants that have been suffering because of Covid-19,” Kryshak said.

“For those of us that are so busy with this scourge, we have to step up and help out other companies that are struggling.”

Rebel Converting, which makes sanitary wipes and other goods, is in the process of making 2.5 million protective masks or mask-making kits and distributing them to the Medical College of Wisconsin with the help of companies such as Allen-Edmonds and Nordstrom’s.

On Wednesday, a semi-trailer full of masks was delivered to the Milwaukee Bucks at Fiserv Forum as part of the MaskUpMKE effort, Kryshak said.

“Covid is peaking, and we’ll need thousands of volunteers to make these masks so the Medical College can get them out to the people and places that need them,” he said.
