Companion planting is topic for program

“Companion Planting from the Ground Up” is the topic for a 7 p.m. online presentation on Thursday, March 26, sponsored by the Ozaukee Master Gardeners.

“Let’s open our eyes wider than ever before to the power of plants,” Michelle Bruhn, Forks in the Dirt founder, author, gardener, educator and local food advocate, said. “Seeing our gardens as the social, constantly communicating ecosystems they are helps us better care for them,” she continues.

Her talk will focus on how companion planting can build healthier soil, balance pests and diseases and mitigate weeds — ultimately growing more resilient, protective and sustainable gardens.

Bruhn will include information on specific plants and flower pairings.

As the founder of Forks in the Dirt, an information hub for garden and farm-to-table living, Bruhn helps people grow their own food, know their local farmers and cook real food year-round.

The talk will be offered via Zoom. It will not be recorded.
