Commission OKs plans for record store, Popsicle shop

A record store and a gourmet Popsicle shop were two of several businesses approved by the Grafton Plan Commission Tuesday.

Record store Fleeting Glimpse will move into 1,200 square feet of the plaza occupied primarily by Pick ’n Save on Falls Road.

The shop will sell vinyl records, CDs and cassettes, as well as trading cards and anime merchandise.

The store will be open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. everyday except Tuesday and would have one shift with as many as two employees at a time.

It is expected to open next month.

Window-service Popsicle shop Pete’s Pops will open in the former Osowski Accounting building on Wisconsin Avenue.

The seasonal business plans to open in June and will have two shifts with two employees at a time. It will be open from noon to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.

The frozen pops, of which there are more than 100 flavors, are made at the company’s Milwaukee production facility and stored in coolers on site.

The business, which will operate from a service window, is on Wisconsin Avenue’s intersection with Beech Street so the Grafton Police Department recommended bollards be installed at the corner, which the owners agreed to do.

Arch support insert and shoe shop The Good Feet Store will move into a strip mall near the corner of Port Washington Road and Washington Street.

The business that offers specialty shoes, socks and supports will occupy 1,500 square feet and have one shift with as many as three employees.

The store’s opening date is uncertain, according to village staff.

Young’s Natural Dry Cleaners will relocate from its current location on Falls Road to the former Kumon Math and Reading Center at the strip mall that houses O’Reilly Auto Parts on Wisconsin Avenue.

The business that will occupy 2,520 square feet provides dry cleaning, laundry services, clothing alterations and clothing repairs.

The applicant said they use a hydrocarbon process to dry clean that does not create an odor.

It is expected to open in June.

The Plan Commission also approved a site plan and conditional use permit for an 8,000-square-foot south-side addition to the building at 995 Badger Circle for personal use and storage by Jim Kacmarcik, CEO and chairman of Kapco Metal Stamping.

Construction is expected to start in June and take one year.

  The commission also recommended a zoning ordinance change to add mausoleums as a conditional use in the institutional zoning district to allow St. Joseph Parish to construct one in its cemetery on Washington Street.

The commission approved a sign variance for the Chase Bank location being built at 1200 Port Washington Rd. and the final plat of the first phase of the Hawk’s Ridge Landing Subdivision.
