Cleanup, tree climbing, beer garden set in Port
The Port Washington Community Cleanup, which was originally set for last weekend but postponed because of concerns about the weather, will be held Saturday, May 4.
Those participating are asked to sign up in Veterans Memorial park from 8 to 11 a.m. They will then be sent to locations around the community for the cleanup.
Garbage bags, a limited number of gloves and garbage pickers will be provided.
Participants are asked to wear appropriate clothing and walking shoes and to bring gloves.
Those taking part in the event will receive a goodie bag filled with coupons for area businesses.
In addition to the cleanup, there will also be a children’s tree climbing event held in Veterans Memorial Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A Cinco de Mayo beer garden sponsored by the Port Washington Lions Club from noon to 7 p.m.
Following the theme “May the Fourth Be With You,” those attending are encouraged to wear Star Wars costumes.
Music and food will be available, and there will be a salsa contest.
Proceeds will benefit the Walk to End Alzheimer’s disease.
