Charities get a treat

Two events that have become annual charity drives in Belgium and Cedar Grove were recently held. The Eerie Street Cemetery in Belgium — RJ Peszko, his family and friends turn his yard into a haunted house — raised $493 for Mr. Bob’s Under the Bridge for basic necessities for the homeless, $276 for Dogs2DogTags to rescue and train service dogs for veterans with post-combat stress and anxiety, and had 215 cans of food donated for the Ozaukee Food Alliance. Left, Rhonda Peszko dressed as Winifred Sanderson from “Hocus Pocus.” Above, Cedar Grove-Belgium High School held the Haunted Trail behind the high school and sold baked goods. More than 40 students were involved, and the event raised more than $350 for the Boys and Girls Club. Students will also pull red wagons during trick or treating in Cedar Grove from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, collecting food and personal items for the food pantry. Photos by Sam Arendt
