CG-Belgium track teams take 4th

The Cedar Grove-Belgium girls and boys’ track and field teams each finished last in a home quadrangular meet April 10.

The boys won four events in scoring 49 points. Random Lake won with 68. Manitowoc Lutheran and Oostburg tied with 65 each.

Stephen Lavey won the 1,600-meter race in 4 minutes, 35.86 seconds, well off of his school-record time, and won the 3,200 in 11:12.22.

The 400 relay team of Alex Acevedo, Isaiah Yinko, Michael Navis and Jonny Berndt won in 48.97 seconds.

Yinko won the 100 dash in 12.1 seconds, and Navis was second in 12.45.

Bryce Ketterhagen was second in the 3,200 in 11:16.1.

A.J. Schaefer was third in the 110 hurdles in 18.91 and in the 300 hurdles in 53.44. Ben Fleuchaus was third in the 800 in 2:25.21.

This was the first outdoor meet for the Rockets.

“Everybody’s improving,” coach Eric Teunissen said.

The Lady Rockets scored 24 points. Oostburg won with 88. Random Lake scored 70 and Manitowoc Lutheran 65.

Grace Voskuil took second in the 1,600 in 6:18.63, barely a second out of first, and she was second in the 800 in 2:56.59.

The 400 relay team of Beernink, Ella Winter, Georgi Isken and Allison Wieberdink took second in 1:01.95.

Karen Ibarra was second in the 400 in 1:09.44 and third in the 100 in 14.66. Greta Beernink was right behind her in fourth in 15.25.
