CG-Belgium’s Schmitz quiets the Warriors’ offense

Carter Schmitz pitched so well that he beat Ozaukee and the storms.

The Cedar Grove-Belgium High School senior allowed one hit and one walk over five innings while striking out seven in a six-inning, 10-0 victory in Fredonia.

“He pitched very well. He had 59 pitches when we pulled him, 40 were strikes (67%),” coach Tom Race said. “Anything over 60% is good.”

Schmitz also had three hits, including a double and two RBIs.

Ira Hilbelink had two hits, including a double, and an RBI. Austin Knapp and Seth Race each had two hits and an RBI. Connor Waters had a hit and two RBIs.

“He’s just hitting the ball hard,” Race said of Waters.

Seth Race allowed two hits and a walk in the final inning.

Colton Dybul went five innings for Ozaukee, allowing 12 hits, two walks and six earned runs. Dybul and Kyle Liermann each had a hit.

The Rockets, 3-1, were to host Sheboygan Lutheran on Tuesday, April 21. They play at Lutheran on Thursday, April 23, host Horicon on Saturday, April 25, and Kohler/Sheboygan Christian on Tuesday, April 28.

Ozaukee, 0-5, was to play at Kohler/Sheboygan Christian on Tuesday, April 21. The Warriors host Kohler/Sheboygan Christian on Thursday, April 23, and Reedsville on Saturday, April 25. They play at Random Lake on Tuesday, April 28.
