The Cedar Grove Village Board tabled a land purchase offer from the Cedar Grove-Belgium School District on Monday, Village Clerk Julie Brey said.

The district offered to buy a 4.4-acre parcel known as Calvary Field, which is bounded by Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church on one side and district property on three.

A baseball diamond on the lot is used by the village for youth leagues.

A special meeting of the school district electors on Feb. 13 drew a small crowd that approved the purchase on a voice vote. The purchase price was not made public.

The School Board discussed the offer to purchase in closed session in January.

Acquiring the land would allow the high school softball team to practice and play games on campus rather than travel to Belgium. The district now rents the land.

The Village Board may discuss the offer at its April monthly meeting.
