Carol was born on Dec. 25, 1927, in Belgium, Wis., to Leo and Esther Croatt. She had four siblings.

In 1952, Carol married Henry Schmitz at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake Church, Wis. Their marriage was blessed with four children.

Carol was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a homemaker and child care provider.

Carol was a woman of deep faith and devoted to God. She prayed the rosary often, and while at Ellen’s Home frequently assisted in leading the weekly rosary group.

Her greatest joys were spending time with her family, preparing food for family gatherings, playing games and cards and watching sports. She enjoyed flowers, birds and music. Babies and dogs would make Carol’s face light up with joy.

Carol always saw the good in people. She was a caring and generous woman to her family, friends and community. She was satisfied with the many simple blessings in life. Carol will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

A special thanks to the staff at Ellen’s Home in Port Washington for the love and care they provided Carol.
