Carol Kiefer

Carol Kiefer lived and worked in Grafton since 1975. She enjoyed volunteering alongside her husband at the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Wisconsin Wing, traveling to air shows throughout Wisconsin and Illinois.

Mrs. Kiefer, 89, died Wednesday, March 16, at Lawlis Family Hospice (Mequon) surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Sept. 6, 1932, in Milwaukee to Rose (Hampel) and Walter Steffen. She graduated from West Division High School.

On June 21, 1952, she married her high school sweetheart – Donald Kiefer at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Milwaukee. Carol and Don liked to attend many German festivals (Ein Prosit!) and vacationing in northern Wisconsin. They also enjoyed attending their children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events.

Carol took great joy in raising her family and watching them mature into the family she leaves behind today.

Mrs. Kiefer is survived by her children Debbie Schulz (the late Lou) of Menomonee Falls, Mike Kiefer (Liz) of West Bend, Bob “Coach” Kiefer of Fredonia, Ken “Woody” Kiefer (Amy) of Germantown and Kathy Canales (Dean) of West Bend; and grandchildren Steven Canales (Hannah) and Andy Canales (Bridget), all of Fond du Lac.

She also leaves behind great grandchildren Madison and Peyton of Fond du Lac; special friends Ev, Pat, Lu, MaryAnne and John K.; nieces Beth and Kurt Meyer, Heidi Eggers and their children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Don of 64 years, her parents Rose and Walter, her sister Audrey (Bill) and brother Earl (Marge).

A celebration of Mrs. Kiefer’s life will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, at Mueller Funeral Home in Grafton.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday, March 30, from 3 p.m. until the service.
