Bostwick’s Walk of Peace to be discussed April 24

Allon Bostwick will discuss the Walk of Peace from the Slovenian Alps to the Adriatic Sea that he took last year during the Port Washington Historical Society’s quarterly meeting on Wednesday, April 24.

The 7 p.m. meeting will be in the Lakeview Community Room at the corner of Main and Franklin streets in downtown.

Bostwick, a  Port Washington native, was told after he completed the 18-day, 180-mile solo journey that he was the first American to do so.

It was a trip through history for Bostwick, as the trail winds along the remnants of World War I, through outdoor museums, along trenches and battlegrounds where soldiers fought and lost their lives and past burial grounds.

Refreshments will be served following the talk.

The event is intended to help close the World War I exhibit at the Society’s Resource Center.
