Book-a-Librarian service there to help with new devices received for the holidays

The Oscar Grady Library in Saukville is giving the gift of tech support this holiday season. 

People who receive a new gadget for Christmas and need help figuring it out can use the Book-a-Librarian service to receive one-on-one help with devices. To make an appointment, visit oscargradylibrary.org or call (262) 284-6022.

The library is also offering a number of programs in December.

Offerings for adults include gentle chair yoga at 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays, Dec. 3, 10 and 17.

Library Director Emily Laws will lead participants through 30 minutes of relaxing chair stretches and deep breathing using the Down Dog app on the library’s big screen.

The Morning Fiction Book Club will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, to discuss “The Christmas Wedding” by James Patterson and Richard DiLallo. Copies of the book are available for check out at the library. 

The Fiber Arts Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, to work on individual projects in a group environment. Participants should bring their own projects to work on. There is no instructor, but the group offers an opportunity to share ideas, tips and inspiration.

At 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, the Evening Nonfiction Book Club will meet to discuss “A Walk in the Park: The True Story of a Spectacular Misadventure in the Grand Canyon” by Kevin Fedarko. Copies of the book are available for check out at the library.

The Love and Lore Book Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18.

This patron-hosted group is for book lovers in their 20s looking for conversation, connections and captivating reads.

Library events for teenagers include a cookie exchange hosted by the Teen Advisory Board at noon Saturday, Dec. 6.

Bring two dozen of your favorite cookies to swap with others. The library will provide hot cocoa, holiday music and games.

A Level Up @ the Library gaming session will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27.

The session, which is suited for people 12 to 18 years old, will feature a Nintendo Switch 2 console with eight Joy-Cons available so teams can battle it out in their favorite multiple player games.

Children’s events include the opportunity to make snowman pop-up cards when the STEM Club meets at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1.

Children in grades one through five will make cards that are really mechanisms by learning the secrets of paper engineering. Registration is required and can be done on the library’s website. 

The STEM Club meets monthly and allows children to explore the principles of science, technology, engineering and math through experiments and lessons led by library staff members.

Santa is scheduled to stop at the library at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, to visit with children, who will have the opportunity to make Grinch Dust and color gingerbread kids that will be displayed at the library throughout the holiday season.

Children in kindergarten through fifth grade can learn about radial symmetry and the formation of snowflakes, then create watercolor-resist snowflake paintings during an Art Sparks session at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 28. Registration is required and can be done on the library’s website.

Children will have the chance to welcome 2026 early at a NOON Year’s Eve Dance Party at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30.

The party is intended for children ages 2 through 6 and their adult caregivers, and siblings are welcome. Festive outfits are encouraged.

Winter Break Family Bingo will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30.

People of all ages are invited. Registration is required and can be done on the library’s website.
